Policies & Disclaimers
At Humble Hatchery, the health, safety, and ethical treatment of all birds is my top priority. To ensure a safe environment for both my flock and my customers, please review the following policies before purchasing:
Health, Vaccination, & Feeding Practices
Humble Hatchery is not NPIP-certified at this time.
I do not vaccinate chicks, and all birds are fed unmedicated chick crumbles from hatch through grow-out.
I maintain strict biosecurity protocols to protect the health of my flock. For this reason, no visitors are allowed inside the hatchery, brooders, or breeding areas.
Pickup Procedures & Biosecurity
To minimize biosecurity risks:
Pickup is conducted only on my covered front porch.
Birds cannot be touched or handled at pickup unless you are 100% committed to taking them home.
Any bird that leaves my hands cannot be placed back into the brooder, as this risks contamination to the entire flock.
This practice aligns with standard NPIP-level biosecurity widely used by farms, homesteads, and small hatcheries.
All Sales Are Final
Once a bird leaves my property, it cannot be returned for any reason, including health concerns, temperament, integration issues, or unforeseen circumstances within your flock or household.
Please note:
Unsexed chicks are sold as unsexed. If any chick later develops into a rooster, no refund, return, or replacement will be offered.
Birds are sold in good health at the time of pickup. After leaving the premises, their care, environment, and overall health become the full responsibility of the buyer.
I do not provide refunds, replacements, or credits for losses that occur due to improper care, environmental factors, accidents, predators, integration issues, stress, or any condition outside of my control.
DNA-Tested Birds Guarantee
For buyers who purchase DNA-sexed or DNA-verified birds, I honor the accuracy of the test results provided at the time of sale.
However, the following conditions apply:
You must be able to positively identify the exact bird you purchased from me.
I must be able to match that specific bird to my hatch records, band numbers (if applicable), and DNA test documentation.
If I cannot verify that the bird you are referencing is the same individual I sold you, a refund or replacement cannot be issued.
Once identity is verified, and if a DNA-tested sex result is proven incorrect, you will be eligible for either a replacement (when available) or a refund of the bird’s purchase price.
This policy ensures fairness and protects the integrity of my small-scale breeding program.
Buyer Responsibility & Education
Raising chicks successfully requires proper research, planning, and care.
Buyers are responsible for:
Understanding the breed(s) they are purchasing
Providing safe, temperature-controlled brooder setups
Using proper feeds and supplements
Following sound husbandry practices
Monitoring their flock’s health and seeking veterinary care if needed
While I am always happy to share general information, I am not responsible for providing complete education or hands-on guidance regarding chick care or flock management.
Please be aware that chick loss can occur for many reasons that are outside the breeder’s control, even with excellent care. By purchasing from Humble Hatchery, you acknowledge and accept these natural risks.
